It is with great sadness that we as Newaygo Nationals Association have had to come to the decision for the 2020 year to cancel Power Paddle (June) and USCA Nationals (August). We have reached this decision in collaboration with Newaygo County Emergency Services, Michigan Canoe Racing Association (MCRA) and the United State Canoe and Kayak Association (USCA). Their respective Boards share our concerns and those of NCES with respect to limiting the spread and exposure of Covid 19 with events that bring in hundreds of people from all over North America and many other countries. No one knows what will happen in the months ahead, and erring on the side of caution and restraint is what we must do. With this in mind, both of these popular events on the Muskegon River are being delayed. At present, we are working with the MCRA in possibly rescheduling PowerPaddle to later in the Summer or fall. The USCA has agreed to push back Nationals one full year. As such the USCA National championships will take place in Newaygo in August 2021. At this time, we are planning on 2DamTuff in October. Registration is being delayed until June 1st, when we might all have a clearer view of how Summer and Fall 2020 might play out. Thank you again for the faithful support of the racing community, volunteer community and our volunteers that make these events possible. We hope you and your families are staying safe and that we can return to hosting world class events later this year. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@newaygonationals.org
